Abstract:
Every human being is made up of a unique, complex web of experiences that defines
their individuality. The core concept behind this creative research project focuses on how memories layer together to create personality, morals, and character; how the retrospection informs the introspection. This series consists of three 48” x 36” paintings on stretched canvas, exploring my implicit memories, and two 53” x 36” mixed media paintings on paper, exploring my explicit memories. Utilizing myself as a subject, this series is a very personal and direct exploration of my memories. The development was heavily process-based, and decisions were informed by the personal discoveries I made throughout my research when painting. When viewed together, the collection of works will comprehensively embody the influences of my current mental and emotional processes.
